French Name :
Longchamp
|
Longchamp (Double Mane), clear and frosted glass mascot by René Lalique, depicting a wonderful rearing horse bust powerfully moulded with a magnificent Art Deco design double mane. 'R.LALIQUE' and 'FRANCE' moulded signature in relief to lower edge of neck. It is one of the most important of all Lalique mascots to find in view of its great rarity and extremely short production run, and surely an ideal addition to any important Lalique collection, or avid equestrian enthusiast.

Condition :
Superb condition. The detail is especially well defined. Usually these pieces have been modified at a later date by having a groove cut above the base to enable the mascot to fit a Breves Gallery metal mounting. This piece is exactly as it was produced in 1929 without the additional mounting groove. The mascot has not been abused in any way, there is no grinding, internal or external flaws or any problems whatsoever with this magnificent piece. Normal usual honest wear scratches under base from its 73 years of careful display, totally commensurate with the age of the piece.
