1928 Lalique Amethyst Glass Coq Nain Car Hood Ornament
(Move down to see further photographs)

French Name : Coq Nain
Coq Nain amethyst tinted and frosted glass mascot by René Lalique. Moulded R.Lalique and France signature to side of base. Claws are intact, as usually they have been cut away to allow the mascot to fit into an incorrect Breves mounting. Note also that this piece has no grinding to the tail feathers, as these were most vulnerable.
First Introduced : 10th February 1928       Catalogue No. : 1135       Dimension : 200mm high.
Condition : Really superb, minor scratching under base, simply from use and the age of this extremely rare find. The moulded early signatures are especially well defined, and plumage detail is superb. Later pieces were signed Lalique France, only the pre 1939 examples had the moulded signature.
