History : Thais was a prostitute and a mistress to Alexander the Great, who accompanied him throughout his conquering of the Orient. Her character, and possibly a Parisian stage performance named after her, inspired René Lalique to create this far more dramatic yet equally graceful companion figure to his famous 'Suzanne' statuette - also called the 'second model of Suzanne'. This concurrently designed and produced figure has not gained the same popularity as the 'Suzanne', but is far rarer and infinitely more desirable.
First Introduced : 7th July 1925      Catalogue No. : 834      Dimension : Inc. Base 265mm high.
Condition : Absolutely superb totally original undamaged condition. Lovely rich deep opalescence ranging from amber to yellow with a beautiful red hue showing clearly under light. Fantastic moulding, definition and clear 1925 signature under base.
